What is DigiByte? This is one of the oldest cryptocurrencies though it might have slumbered for a while. The coin focuses on security, decentralization, and speed. Аnounced in 2013 DigiByte remains to be part of the oldest crypto community.
The coin is still relatively unknown though. This is even though it started a long time ago. According to the fans, it is one of the best cryptocurrency technologies. The same fans, however, describe it as a sleeping giant in cryptosphere. Its adoption has been very low over the past four years. Even so, it is argued to be the technology that will beat the top cryptocurrencies.
How it works
It started to adjust difficulty level with Digishield. The coins, referred to as DigiBytes cannot be jacked or destroyed. It is therefore perfect for protecting assets. The currencies can be sent over the blockchain and remain recorded on the public ledger forever.
The DigiByte blockchain code contains 5 types of algorithms: Groestl, Scrypt, Qubit, SHA 256 and Skein, which allows DigiByte mining both on ASICs and on video cards. This mining scheme is very useful for its security, because in this case, a hacker will need more power to monitor the DigiByte network.
The coin was developed by Jared Tate in 2013 and lounged the first block in 2014. At that time, it was among a handful of public blockchain projects, and it launched without the initial token sale.
Tate dedicated his time to the development of the coin. Over the years, DigiByte has been receiving funds from the DigiByte foundation. It can be assumed that Tate and his team have made quite a fortune from holding and mining DGB, though it is not easy to find more about the others.
How to use
The coin is available on Poloniex, Bittrex, HitBTC. It can be purchased for Bitcoin, Ether or Tether. It all depends on the exchange you are using. You can buy any of the above with fiat currency then exchange for DGB before transferring it to your wallet.
